Wine Tasting Note

Just recieved a bottle of 1970 Vintage Dows for my Bday (ny wife must really love me) and was wondering if anyone knows how long to age it before drinking at its peak. I have read it is ready to drink but wondering if holding on to it for a bit longer might be better? Any thoughts?Posted on Aug 27, 2007

I would drink it anytime from now until 10-15 years from now. With that age, there will be potentially a lot of sediment, so make sure to put keep the bottle up right for at least 24 hours before opening it.

When you open it, be careful not to move the sediment at the bottom by tipping the bottle slowly. You can also use the cheese cloth to run the wine through and filter out any sediments. Pouring the wine into a decanter will also help with the flavour.

A 1970 Dow's is a fantastic wine. Try and taste the difference from when you open it to several hours after. Drink it all with 24-48 hours after opening.
