Notes:Ok, so this wine is not from Portugal and it is made with Petit Sirah instead of the traditional Portuguese grape varieties, but it wasn't that bad. I can't believe I said that as I am a Port snob and Port to me only comes from Portugal's Douro region.

In fact, it was the best Californian Port I have ever drank.

First thing I noticed was that there was a lot of sediment in the bottle, so I decanted it through a filter.

The colour was dark burgundy. The nose had tons of alcohol. In fact it burned the nose with the sharp smell of pungent alcohol. So we let it breath for an hour.

I would summarize the taste as cassis (black current) and licorice. There's also a faint hint of tobaco.

Small amounts of sweetness, fruit and pepper and the tannins don't linger too long in the mouth. The licorice lingers long after anything else.

But again, I have to say that it was very drinkable and I would relate it to an average 10-year old aged Tawny.
