Event Discussion

Although about 25% smaller than last years, this years Port tasting in Toronto was great as usual.

This year had a lot more Douro wines than Port wines and the selection of Port seemed to be of the 2003 vintage and then some LBVs.

When you drink a lot of 2003s at one tasting, you start seeing how the entire Port industry is morphing into similar flavours and aromas. Most of the 'British-style' 2003 vintages tasted the same. While the smaller independant 'Portuguese-style' 2003 vintages tasted dramatically different.

The upside was acTually talking to some winemakers from the Douro on their wines and the industry.

I will warn everyone though, that my palette was a little off that evening, so some of my tasting may not be as accurate as I would have liked them to be.
